About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven DCS Supervisor to join a high-performing team supporting complex petrochemical plant operations. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, ensuring optimum reliability, safety, and performance.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with DCS/PLC systems, a strong understanding of industrial automation, and the confidence to supervise a team of technicians in a fast-paced plant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage lifecycle plans for DCS/PLC systems to ensure system reliability and maintainability
• Support system upgrades, including commissioning, acceptance testing, and pre-installation software validation
• Provide troubleshooting and technical support to operational and maintenance teams
• Coordinate with vendors and operations teams to resolve technical issues and deliver improvements
• Supervise the installation, tuning, and performance optimisation of automation systems
• Conduct feasibility studies for control system enhancements or replacements
• Oversee and support projects involving consultants and contractors; define scope, supervise delivery, and ensure compliance with policies and standards
• Recommend suitable automation vendors and monitor delivery of services
• Prepare technical documentation including risk assessments, upgrade schedules, and progress reports
• Plan and execute security controls for Industrial Control Systems (ICS), ensuring protection against unauthorised access or cyber threats
• Identify training needs and support training delivery for system users
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations

Requirements

• Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent in a relevant technical field
• At least 7 years of experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical sector, including 2 years in a supervisory role
• In-depth knowledge of DCS/PLC systems, automation engineering, and ICS security protocols
• Hands-on experience with Honeywell DCS and SCADA systems highly desirable
• Familiarity with Modbus, OPC, and other third-party communication protocols
• Solid understanding of maintenance management methods and CMMS tools (SAP knowledge is a plus)
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and leadership skills
• Proficiency in IT networking for ICS environments, including routing, switching, and intrusion detection
• Strong communication and organisational skills
