If you are a Control Systems Project Engineer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Houston, TX location, you will work on project teams, collaborate with a multitude of diverse professionals, and apply innovative and creative ideas to solve complex problems for our clients. We provide project management, engineering and design services, and supply of control systems hardware and software for control system projects in the oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical industries.
In this role, your responsibilities will be:
• Accountability for all technical activities on assigned projects, including Engineering Execution (Execution Performance, Engineering Schedule Performance, and Engineering Technical Performance).
• Bridging the technical gap between the Project Manager and Engineers. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work. Monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Emerson or client standards.
• Ensuring effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all teams and all other project participants, and identify risks to the project in area of responsibility then recommend and take action to mitigate risks.
• Supporting Project Management for:Coordination of project plans, contractual arrangements, schedules, activities, and milestonesTracking and updating deliverable status
• Acting as technical lead for a specific portion of the scope
• Top-level system design (infrastructure, system architecture)
• Managing (technical) interfaces with:Customers and the Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) contractorsSubcontractors
• Ensuring quality of project related design
• Acting as technical liaison between sub-teams, fields and systems
• Preparing for, attending, and leading technical discussions at project meetings
• Ensuring Emerson and customer standards and guidelines are adhered to for both hardware and software
• Assisting the project team with deliverables, tests, etc. as applicable
• Attending project review meetings

For this role, you will need:
• BS Engineering or Engineering Technology degree
• 10+ years of experience in control system engineering projects in the energy, oil and gas, chemical, or hybrid industries.
• 5+ years with project engineering responsibility
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
• Strong Communication skills
• Willing to travel up to 30% domestically
• Legal US work authorization; sponsorship will not be provided now or in the future.
Preferred qualifications that set you apart:
• Experience in scope definition and execution for Front End Loading (FEL) and Detailed Design phases
• Experience in coordinating engineering, construction, purchasing and scheduling
• Self-Motivated and innovative
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills along with attention to detail
• Proficient in DeltaV
• Experience in control systems modernization projects
• Experience in hot cutover planning and commissioning
• Experience in field instrumentation specification and signal wiring design
