Job Description

Operating under detailed instructions and review, the purpose of this position is to provide the essential technical knowledge and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. The purpose of this position is to work on design and perform 3D layout of moderate scope to support the Design Area Lead or Lead.
• Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity
• Provides close interface with, and promotes the understanding of, other discipline functions
• Conducts reviews of model using 3D Review platform and creates 3D models of moderately complexity
• Applies project drawing standards to design drawings
• Review drawings, and vendor equipment documentation of basic to moderate complexity within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with projectrequirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
• Performs squad check of vendor equipment drawings and other discipline drawings of basic to moderate complexity
• Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations
• Participates in people development through mentoring of less experienced Designers
• Actively participates in and promotes the use of Fluor’s Knowledge Community and other available resources
• Focuses on performance appraisal input and counseling
• Meets Company expectations for attendance
• Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study, or; A combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Other Job Requirements

• Use the Hexagon Smart® Instrumentation database to load instrument indexes and wiring information and generate reports and loops
• Develop and check wiring and loop diagrams
• Check or audit control systems models and drawings
• Develop control systems area and unit location plan drawings
• Perform basic design calculations (e.g., wire sizing, conduit fill, voltage drop, junction box or panel sizing)
• Perform Instrument material take-off
• Create and assign intermediate complexity instrument installation details
• Advanced knowledge of: o Fluor design guides, control systems technical practices and control systems design drawings o Control systems representation on drawings and knowledge of 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD)
• Intermediate knowledge of: o Hexagon Smart® Instrumentation software o Hexagon Smart® Review software o 3D modeling software (Hexagon Smart® 3D, etc.) o 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD)systems and procedures
• Intermediate knowledge of: o Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) representation; ability to recognize/resolve problems associated with control systems

Salary Range

72,500 to 130,500

Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
