About the job:
Kent is looking for a Commissioning Managerto be based in Houston, TX and report to our U.S. Operations Manager for our Completions, Commissioning and Start-up (CCS) business unit.
Skills and Responsibilities:
• Be fully accountable for emulating and promoting the Kent Safety Culture.
• Maintain high-level contact with clients to ensure their satisfaction, staying informed of any potential business developments within the customer base.
• Manage existing client relationships and leverage internal executives’ client relationships.
• Support operational leadership in proposal development.
• Coordinate/supervise the activities of the Commissioning Leads and the Support/Services team.
• Attend all contract meetings (engineering, MICC, fabrication, construction, vendor, etc.) to represent commissioning, ensuring that schedules and costs allow commissioning to be carried out adequately.
• Support the development of commissioning execution plans and associated procedures to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Collaborate with planning teams to assist in the creation of detailed commissioning work scopes, ensuring that they are comprehensive and executable.
• Sign Ready For Start-Up (RFSU) certificates to confirm that all systems are fully commissioned, all performance tests are completed, and full responsibility is transferred to Operations.
• Collaborate with the client to ensure the safe and effective execution of commissioning.
• Ensure a seamless transition of the facilities from the project phase to operations.
• Manage the creation of commissioning schedule risk analysis exercises and take ownership of the commissioning risk and mitigation register.
• Set up and define the interfaces between engineering and system completions, ensuring continuous alignment between systems completion and Project Engineering, including system interfaces and ensuring the engineering work package schedule aligns with the commissioning schedule.
• Ensure alignment with Project Engineering, Construction, Quality, Procurement, and Start-Up/Operations teams.
• Align subject matter experts and resources with the project in relation to commissioning activities.
• Manage and own the commissioning reporting structure, covering all aspects.
• Set up, define, and coordinate interfaces with Project Engineers, CMT, Turnover Handover Superintendent, Start-Up Team, and Operations to ensure the Construction and Start-Up Teams are fully conversant with the Systems Completion Model.
• Create and own the commissioning milestones for the planning, fabrication, construction, and commissioning/start-up phases.
• Manage regular commissionability audits of commissioning progress at specified intervals during FEED, detailed design, fabrication, construction, and CSU phases.
• Monitor static and dynamic commissioning activities.
• Coordinate and execute system completion activities required by the systems completion plans and protocols.
• Resolve systems completion-related issues to ensure satisfactory quality is achieved.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
• Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering or other Industry related fields of study.
• Minimum 20 years relevant industry experience with a minimum of 10 years Commissioning Management experience required.
• A strong focus on the development of HSSE awareness and HSSE management is essential.
• Proven exposure to multi-disciplinary engineering, construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operations activities, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and a sound knowledge of project delivery processes.
Communication:
• Excellent oral and written communication and skills.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
• Understanding of major project lifecycle execution.
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
