About the job:
Kent is looking for Lead I&C Commissioning Technicians to support our team on greenfield scope at the Golden Pass LNG project in Port Arthur, TX.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
• Reports to the discipline commissioning lead for planning and execution management support.
• Supervise Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) commissioning execution work as directed.
• Communicates with the Commissioning I&C Lead for technical support.
• Create RFI content as the first line of technical field questions.
• Accept and/or sign onto permits, JSA, FLRA’s, and toolbox talks in the capacity of front-line user.
• Perform field verification of punch list completion and update the system’s completion database as required.
• Supervise and report daily progress on commissioning B check sheets technically and legibly.
• Mentor junior I&C technicians in loop checks, troubleshooting, calibrations, and control system interface.
• Proficient in the use of I&C test equipment such as HART communicators, Fluke multimeters, pressure calibrators, and signal simulators.
• Capable of reviewing and redlining loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, and wiring schematics accurately and legibly.
• Support interlock testing, logic testing, Cause & Effect validation, and dynamic commissioning of control systems.
• Escort and coordinate with control system vendors for commissioning, logic downloads, and field support.
• Provide field support for system energization, leak testing, and instrument response verification.
• Ensure compliance with safe work practices, isolation procedures, and system-specific permitting processes.
• Interface with DCS, SIS, and PLC systems at the field level to support loop checks and functional testing.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee’s skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee’s current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:
• Technician certified, with preferably a college technical certificate and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Established track record in commissioning, start-up, and field integration of instrumentation and control systems.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of process instrumentation, fire & gas systems, control valves, transmitters, and analyzers.
• Experience commissioning and supporting PLC/DCS-based systems, including interlocks and shutdowns.
• In-depth understanding of CSU practices, isolation procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
• Proficient in field instrument setup, testing, and calibration under live project conditions.
Communication:
• Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.
Behavior/Core Competencies:
• Proven strong technical skills in I&C commissioning and leadership within the discipline.
