Wood is currently recruiting for expressions of interest for Automation Engineers (AE) to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The AE will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business.
Our Systems Integration (SI) team operate across UK; therefore, the role can be based at any of the following UK offices; Aberdeen, Staines, Reading, Glasgow or Northampton on a hybrid basis.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role
Due to growth across our SI business, we are looking for expressions of interest from Automation Engineers in relation to upcoming project awards for 2025. 
We are seeking to hear from individuals who have engineering experience within Automation and Controls projects, who are driven by solving complex technical challenges for our clients.
As an experienced Automation Engineer you will support the implementation of projects in line with company objectives including continuous improvement of margin, customer satisfaction, schedule, working capital and safety performance.

Our Systems Integration (SI) team, work with a variety of high-profile clients across the energy sector. Delivering bespoke essential automation and control solutions that enable a safer and more efficient operation. 
Within SI, we are architecting our clients’ digital ecosystems to be inherently safe, cybersecure and operable. Within our teams we integrate client source systems across their IT, Operational Technology (OT) environments, securely pushing OT data into IT systems as a foundation for transformation.
We design and integrate operational technology to achieve business, production, and operational goals.

Responsibilities

The key objectives for this role are:Provides expertise across one of these Automation Technical Areas – PLC, SCADA, Cyber Security, Network DesignResponsible for identifying the Automation and Controls requirements and defining the solutions for the clientImplements the defined Automation and Control solutionsSupporting the Engineering team in accomplishing project objectivesApplies integration concepts to a wide variety of systems and across multiple vendor platformsEngineers’ technical aspects of automation project design and / or implementation for assigned activitiesImplements the configuration, database and / or programming activities for assigned activitiesPrepares engineering studies and software design documentationResolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards

It will take all of us working together to deliver solutions to the world’s most critical challenges. Expected:Bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in an engineering disciplinePrevious experience working in a project delivery environment Previous experience and competency in Automation and Control EngineeringPrevious experience in writing software specificationsDetailed experience with multiple system implementation projects and / or control system platforms Previous experience of addressable F&G systems Previous experience of Microsoft SQL A sound understanding of engineering practices, methodologies and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specificationsKnowledge of modern automation and control applications, tools, methodologies Strong planning, organising and execution skillsDesirable:Professional Engineer or engineering chartership preferred Rockwell PLC and SCADA systems experienceExperience of Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA
