Job Description:
The Control Systems Engineer III plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, design and support of electrical control systems, machines and systems. This position requires critical thinking skills and programming of PLC and HMI systems. In addition, this role will include support for Sales, Production and Field Service teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs all duties of an Engineer II in a professional and competent manner.
• Performs, plans, and schedules electrical and control systems development.
• Designs hardware and software systems for both new and existing machines.
• Performs testing and analysis; correlates data; prepares reports and makes recommendations.
• Provides cost estimates and associated machine and product line improvements.
• Creates and maintains schematics and drawings using company standards and tools.
• Creates and maintains accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Communicates effectively providing complete and accurate information meeting company standards.
• Performs machine and process risk assessments.
• Participates in or leads multi-discipline teams addressing specific design or process issues.
• Develops and tests PLC and HMI code, as described by UML guidelines.
• Installs PLC and HMI code and tests machines at our production facility prior to shipment.
• Prepares and updates machine manuals, as required.
• Performs continuous improvement/cost reductions on machines and options.
• Performs machine quality inspections prior to machine shipments.
• Generates documentation to support quality compliance programs.
• Proposes and implements tools/processes to improve overall company efficiency.
• Participates in Research & Development projects.
• Participates in sales meetings to describe product-related issues and ongoing work.
• Participates in customer meetings to discuss specific machine layouts, performance, specifications, etc.
• Trains other Control Engineers and Field Service Technicians in all aspects of the machine
• Assists with machine installation, commissioning, field troubleshooting and customer training, as required.
• Becomes familiar with all safety and “best-practices” codes and guidelines (OSHA, NFPA, UL, etc.)
• Becomes familiar with all company safety standards.
• Performs all commitments/tasks in a timely and professional manner.
• Performs otherduties/responsibilitiesas required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Control Systems Engineer III may be assisted by another Engineer or Technician. This position has no direct reports and is not directly responsible for managing others, but may be required to lead small, temporary teams on particular projects. This is a leadership position and is expected to guide others by example.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Professional Engineer (PE) Control Systems Engineering (CSE) preferred

Education
• BSEE or BSET (Electrical Emphasis) plus appropriate job-related continuing education
Experience and Skills
• Five or more years of experience working within an OEM manufacturing environmentSufficient experience to be considered fully competent
• Experience in the following is requiredPLC and HMI platforms (Allen Bradley RS Logix)Read IEC and JIC wiring diagramsMicrosoft Office(Word, Excel, etc.)
• Experience in the following is desiredPLC and HMI platforms (Siemens)ServoMotion controls (Yaskawa, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)Electrical schematic design software (Autocad Electrical, EPLAN)Higher Level Programming Language(VB.net, C++, etc.)Robot controllers
• In-depth knowledge of controls engineering and a broad working mechanical knowledge
• Able to apply theoretical knowledge, practical experience and current technology to create new software and improve existing software.
• Possesses a wide range of creativity in the application of standard and more-advanced engineering activities; exercises sound judgment in selecting and adapting engineering alternatives.
• Possesses good communication skills, a positive “get-it-done” attitude and the ability to work as part of a team in a demanding production environment.

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 (DOE)
