Project Overview:
Join us as we make history at theHanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant.We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges,our communityprovides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
Job Summary:
As the Systems Deputy Engineering Group Supervisor (EGS), you will be responsible for supervising engineers and leading the systems engineering activities performed on the project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. The Systems Deputy EGS reviews and approves key systems engineering documents and must have a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to engineering.
The Systems Deputy EGS is required to have a good knowledge of Bechtel’s administrative practices and supervisory experience. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), can be the “face” of Bechtel, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.
Full-Time In Office
: This position is a full-time role located in the Richland, Washington project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.#LI-AA7
Major Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning, development, direction, and participate in the day-to-day WTP Systems Engineering activities
• Review Systems Engineering documents relating to requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, technical trade studies, interface management, reliability, availability, maintainability, systems integration, and configuration management
• Ensure systems engineers and technologists supervised receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
• Provide leadership and mentoring to team members
• Assist and manage the preparation and approval of system and facility design requirement documents
• Coordinate and facilitate technical discussions to resolve system design issues
• Coordinate directly with client and regulatory representatives.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Level 1
• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Level 2
• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge).
• Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
• Prior experience working in a Nuclear Quality and Safety Environment.
• Experience in nuclear plant design (power plant or DOE facility).
• Possess a detailed understanding of Systems Engineering principles and methods, requirements management principles and methods.
• Experience facilitating multi-discipline meetings to resolve technical and related requirements compliance issues.
• Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards and their influence on design.
• Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Experience working with systems engineering tools, such as IBM® Rationale DOORS® or Innoslate by Spec Innovations on a project.
• INCOSE certification or obtain certification within a year.
