As Lead LV Secondary System Engineer, you will be a part of LV Secondary” team at the HVDC Centre of Excellence, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. You will be a part of a highly motivated and dynamic team of engineers working on the requirements, design, integration, installation, and commissioning Control and Protection Systems for HVDC.LV secondary activities covers, among others:

AC Protection Single Line Diagram and Protection principles.
HV electrical control and interlocking principles.
Technical specifications (control cable, cubicles, …)
Cubicles design.
Detailed electrical schematics.

Roles and Responsibilities

As Lead LV Secondary System Engineer, you will be responsible for design and development activities for the technical solution that meets customer requirements. This includes the following activities:

• Requirement Capture and gap analysis.
• Define Schematic diagrams requirements and produce detailed design documentation, drawings, test specifications and test reports.
• Prepare design and technical documents required for the projects as:Design documents: Single Line Diagrams, Wire/Cable Schedules, Routine Test specification, General Assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, etc.Principal diagrams: Interlockings, Protection actions, Polarities, HVDC specific functionsPrepare Technical specification for cabling, cable list, Cable Schedule
• Interface with equipment supplier, monitor manufacturing of cabinets and supervise Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
• Follow the departments standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines.
• Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.
• Prepare replies to customer comments on technical submittals in coordination with project management.
• Attend, as needed, meeting withcustomers/contractors/consultants for technical discussions.
• Assist site activities relevant to the installation and commissioning of the control system.
• Apply engineering policies and procedures.
• Share engineering information.
• Support department Continuous Improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5-year experience in HW design in HVDC field or in a similar field: Oil&Gas, Electrical substations, Transmission & Distribution,…
• Good Knowledge about HVDC systems and components.
• Experience with Design Requirements management for Electrical system and components: analysis and flowdown from System requirements to Components requirements.
• Good knowledge of Electrical Engineering tools such as E-base, …
• Strong experience in LV/Control Panels design (preferably as used in HVDC or Substation/Power plant environments)
• Good knowledge about IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), Signal List and Configuration.
• Good knowledge about Engineering Codes & Standards (international such as IEC, IEEE, National, Cigré…)
• Basic Understanding of LV cable sizing and distribution
• Good knowledge of Control & Protection Relay logic
• Knowledge of technical regulations and certifications
• Good influencing skills
• Good level of Accountability and Decision making skills
• Problem solving skills
• Tools: MS office (Word, Visio, Excel).
• Languages: English.
• Availability to travel ~10% of time

Desired Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HVDC systems.
• Language: French
