Within Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (IMSC), a member of Johnson & Johnson’s Family of Companies, we are recruiting an Operations MES Automation Integration Lead (M/F/X) as member of our Operations support team based in Geel, Belgium.
Innovative Medicine Supply Chain Geel serves as Centre of Excellence for the development and manufacturing of Small Molecule APIs used in treatments that improve the health and lifestyle of people worldwide. The Operations Support team supports the Geel site in its mission as Launch & Grow site and is responsible for manufacturing systems support (MES, Delta V, PCS7, SAP,…).
As MES Automation Integration Lead, you are responsible for the addition of an Automation Integration layer into our Master Batch Records and will define the best way to connect MES to Delta V/PCS7 and OSI-PI to collect batch data automatically into the Electronic Batch Records. This role will therefor play a critical role in the implementation of MES Next Gen as of July 2025.
Next to the role of Automation Integration Lead this role will also be responsible for design and execution of optimization projects in MES post Go Live and for the execution of system upgrades along the way.
Role Responsibilities
• Responsible for the design of the Automation Integration layer between MES, our DCS systems and OSI-PI.
• Support the modeling team in applying these Automation Integration concepts into the Master Batch Records for MES Next Gen.
• Responsible for the design and execution of improvement projects on site related to Automation Integration.
• Responsible for the execution of MES system upgrades during the life cycle management of the system.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Execution Systems, MSAT, Quality and IT partners to ensure alignment of objectives and results.
• Provide subject matter expertise for the Geel site MES to DeltaV/PCS7 interfaces.
• Support the modelling team in the creation/updating of Master Batch Records.
• Support the recipe modelers in the creation/updating of DCS recipes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Role Requirements
• Bachelor / Master Scientific degree (chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, bioengineer, …).
• At least 2 years’ experience in Chemical and/or Pharmaceutical Supply Chain.
• At least 2 years’ experience in modeling of Master Batch Records in MES (PAS-X).
• Experience in system integration (level 2/level 3) is a must.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while staying connected with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries through influencing, negotiation and partnering. Negotiation, communication and presentation skills across all levels of the organization are important.
• Strong analytical thinking skills and able to work in a flexible way under time pressure.
• Experience in GMP, regulatory requirements and computer system validation.
