Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible to:
Complete design and drafting for Electrical packages such as cable tray layout, lighting and receptacle layouts, electrical room and substation layouts, single line diagrams and motor control schematic and wiring diagrams.
Creation of design calculations such as voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat trace requirements.
Select appropriate electrical materials to complete designs such as lighting fixtures, cables, panels and control stations.
Review vendor data for equipment and apply it to electrical design.
Obtain measurements and collect data at job sites as required.
Estimate material quantities and cable lengths.
Interface with other departments to create a project 3D model. Responsible for routing cable trays, placing lights and equipment in the model, and creating reference 2D backgrounds from the model.
Create, provide input to, and check lists such as cable schedules, equipment lists and load lists.
Follow Project CAD procedures to prepare drawings, preform drafting checks and ensure acceptable overall layout and presentation of finished drawings.
Work with senior engineers to develop designs and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
Graduate of an Electrical Engineering Technology program, or of a related Design / Drafting (CAD) program with relevant experience in electrical design.
Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan is preferred.
Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply it in designs.
Minimum 6 years experience with AutoCAD for 2D drawing design.
Minimum 4 years experience with 3D design / drafting, preferably AutoCAD 3D and AVEVA E3D, for mining and mineral processing projects or similar heavy industrial projects.
Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with databases is beneficial, preferably AVEVA AE.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment.
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
