Job Description

Bridging North America (BNA), a partnership of Fluor, ACS Infrastructure Canada and Aecon Group Inc., is seeking a summer intern candidate for the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. BNA was selected to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the CAD$5.7 billion (approximate US$4.4 billion) Gordie Howe International Bridge project for Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA).When completed, the bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The project includes a bridge and border crossing spanning the Detroit River and connecting Detroit, Michigan, U.S., and Windsor, Ontario, Canada, by linking Interstate 75 and Interstate 96 in Michigan with the new extension of Highway 401 (Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway) in Ontario. The scope also includes building new, state-of-the-art ports of entry on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the Detroit River as well as improvements to existing infrastructure in both Michigan and Ontario.Fluor provides innovative solutions for our clients to meet the demand for major new transportation programs due to aging infrastructure and continuing urbanization. Our leadership and extensive experience in design-build execution provides high-value solutions for bridges, highways, rail and transit systems, and toll roads.The student is responsible for providing technical and engineering support at the front end of systems installation. Will be phased into the construction group, initially reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Manager.
• Coordinates with the area manager for costing and ensuring that the proper information is properly coded to the Project Control team.
• Ensures project costing requirements are met.
• Looks after reports on daily/weekly production.
• Provides technical information and quantities of work for a particular operation (e.g., conduit and cable installation).
• Provides technical assistance to the Superintendents.
• Ensures that quality assurance practices are being met.
• Supervises Quality Assurance program for field operations and advises Superintendent of non-compliance.
• Ensures all copies of specifications and construction drawings are latest issue and distributes as required to the Superintendent(s).
• Advises Superintendent and Project Control team on any change in scope of work to be done.
• Contacts Sub-Contractors and Suppliers for scheduling and scope of requirement.
• Keeps job diary and separate book for daily inspection of works.
• Provides monthly estimates of work completed as required by Project Control team for billing to owner.
• Gathers information to produce monthly pay certificates.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Typically has one (1) year of project experience
• Ability to speak/read multiple languages

Salary Range

34,500 to 54,500

Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
