Job Description:

BW Flexible Systems, a division of Barry-Wehmiller, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Controls Engineering Co-Op for 2025. This Co-Op offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on automation, electrical design, and controls integration projects within a manufacturing environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to meaningful, real-world projects involving advanced machinery.

Term:
Two terms are available:

• January – June 2025
• June – December 2025

Location:
BW Flexible Systems in Brooklyn Park, MN

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of electrical and control systems for automated machinery and production processes.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and modify control logic, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and electrical schematics.
• Document system designs, wiring diagrams, specifications, and user manuals for electrical and control systems.
• Participate in troubleshooting and debugging electrical and control system issues, identifying problems and contributing to their resolution.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure smooth system integration.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and optimization of control systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
• Contribute innovative ideas to improve system performance, efficiency, and design, driving continuous improvement.
• Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to electrical controls engineering.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of college coursework completed inElectrical Engineering,or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, PLC programming, control systems, wiring, and circuitry is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
