Automation Engineer – Frankfurt or Berlin – 12 months+
For a large global Data Center company we are looking for an Automation Engineer to support in Germany on a 12 month contract.
You will need to work onsite in Frankfurt or Berlin for the initial 6 months and comfortable travelling to Europe after that.
The Role
- Support site operations for remediation projects and maintenance tasks related to Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, and critical network/control systems.
- Lead or assist in commissioning and post-commissioning activities, ensuring reliable system performance and data recovery.
- Manage escalations, change controls, and maintenance events affecting BMS/BAS across all operated buildings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Engineering, Construction, and Site Operations to maintain and improve automation architecture.
- Coordinate integration timelines to program, test, and commission mission-critical control systems.
- Innovate and challenge existing processes to deliver ultra-reliable, ultra-efficient data center automation systems.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and automation platforms (Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 control logix.)
- Practical experience in PLC programming, SCADA integration, and system commissioning in industrial or data center environments
Ignition SCADA experience desirable - Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS/BMS), field devices, control loops, and network topologies
- Strong background in Instrumentation & Control, Automation, Mechatronics, or similar technical field and proven experience with industrial automation system commissioning.
