Wood Minerals & Metals team is currently delivering critical metals projects, including Copper, Nickel, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals. 
Newmont’s Lihir mine on Niolam Island, is 900km from Port Moresby and is one of the largest gold mines in Papua New Guinea – and the world.  It produced 670 Koz of gold in FY23 and employs about 5,100 people. 
As part of the new contract with Newmont, Wood will provide consulting and engineering services to enhance the safe and efficient processing of gold across various stages of the project lifecycle including the delivery of concept and feasibility studies, detailed design, and construction management services. 

Responsibilities

Based in Brisbane, Queensland reporting to Project Services Manager in WA, you will be part of our team supporting the capital works program for the Lihir gold mine in Papua New Guinea. Your focus supporting the set up and running of all required project controls systems, tools, and interfaces to allow successful management and reporting of the project costs, schedule and risks on projects and specific assignments. In addition but not limited to;Act as the focal point with the client and any contractor Project Controllers as appropriate to ensure costs and progress are reported accurately, ensure alignment with the project reporting requirements and ensure timely and accurate cost and progress reporting Monitor overall project / assignment progress status, achievement and non-achievement of major milestones and analyse and forecast performance in relation to planAccountable for providing analysis of current and future resource needs for the project and programme to the Project ManagerLead cost and schedule risk analysis workshops / sessions both internally and with clients – Ensure Project Controls processes and procedures are accurate, that the project controls team are familiar with them and comply with their requirements Responsible for ensuring that projects are managed effectively to ensure delivery in a manner which meets quality, time and budget specifications Reviews contractual obligations and ensures that cost control activities are performed in accordance with the contractual agreements and the Client’s requirementsAt Wood you will join an inclusive and diverse global community of inquisitive minds and recognised industry innovators, partnering to create new possibilities.

Qualifications

About YouThis opportunity is looking for an experienced Project Controls professionals who have developed their career within project controls of medium to large scale resource-based projects, experienced in multi project portfolio management, who is passionate on building long lasting collaborative working relations with our clients.Relative tertiary qualification or Project Management certification, delivered in a project controls function pathway. Understanding of resources-based projects, particular to engineering service delivery, experience in portfolio management of multiple packagesUnderstanding and exposure of brownfield project delivery.Ability to align Wood strategic purpose in balance of client/project requirements.Broad understanding of project controls function across engineering or construction projects, Ability to work in fast paced agile environment, overseeing multiple priorities. Good Interpersonal skills, with skills in creating a cohesive and collaborative partnership across key internal/external stakeholders. Full working rights in Australia. Please note, only applicants holding valid working rights in Australia will be considered.
