Production engineering manager
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Production Development Engineer, you will work under the Engineering Service Manager to enhance the production of Microlectric enclosures (meter bases) and all related accessories within the engineering and continuous improvement department at the Iberville plant for ABB Canada’s Electrification, Installation Products division. Your focus will be on optimizing manufacturing processes through the standardization of methods and innovation in our procedures. • Define the production process sequence based on material budgets and investment plans. • Identify HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) risks with operators and implement appropriate actions to eliminate them. • Identify performance gaps related to quality processes and lead problem-solving workshops with production operators. • Ensure optimal efficiency of production methods, equipment performance, and materials/components. • Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements based on cost, safety, and timeline requirements. • Research new methods, technologies, and changes in equipment and process design to better meet specifications. • Develop action plans and train resources, maintenance staff, and production personnel to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and the availability of a skilled and competent team. • Consult and collaborate with production operators and supervisors to implement changes in production. • Use LEAN MANUFACTURING concepts to solve problems and eliminate production waste.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, with 2 to 5 years of experience in engineering.
• Proven experience working in a manufacturing environment (supervisory experience is a plus).
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and adherence to workplace safety guidelines.
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of LEAN principles is an asset.
