If you are aPlant Engineering Technicianlooking for an opportunity to grow and develop professionally, Emerson Discrete Automation has an exciting opportunity for you!Based in East Granby, CT, you will perform routine and emergency maintenance on all production equipment under minimal supervision. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong background in mechanical and electrical repairs, troubleshooting, and general fabrication skills.
In this role, your responsibilities will be:
• Performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment including extrusion, payoffs, take-ups, ovens, inkjet printers, braiders, hoppers, and pumps.
• Troubleshooting equipment.
• Performing calibrations on critical equipment and measuring devices.
• Performing basic facility safety checks and inspections.
• Maintaining and updating maintenance logs and records on all equipment.
• Scheduling outside service support as required.
• Following maintenance procedures and updating as needed.
• Crafting and building basic fixtures to support production.
• Communicating optimally with managers, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Working with engineering on both machine upgrades and new equipment installations.
• Ensuring all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in compliance with all plant and regulatory standards (ex. OSHA, NFPA 70E for Arc Flash).
• Maintaining a clean maintenance shop and repair area.
• Handling time optimally to perform critical tasks.

For this role, you will need:
• High School diploma or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in plant maintenance.
• The ability to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics as well as technical manuals.
• Prior experience repairing mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Be available for overtime and weekend work as needed.
• The ability to climb ladders, bend, crouch, twist, and kneel to access repair areas.
• The ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred qualifications that set you apart:
• Technical degree or equivalent experience
• Forklift experience
• Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing
