Job Description
The Commercial Manager will report to the Vice President Commercial for Operations Americas and will support commercial activities from pre-contract through business execution and contract close for the P&I Business. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the P&I business leaders and business development teams to ensure the creation and protection of Wood value.
Prepare and coordinate the commercial aspects of tender proposals (pricing, estimating, qualifications, commercial review process)
Preparing for and lead negotiations of new client deals, change orders and dispute resolution including development of strategies for alternative proposals and scenario planning including best and lowest possible desirable outcome planning.
Manage approval workflows and data inputs into Wood’s approval systems
Coordinate and assist with compilation of the overall tender estimate and margin development
Prepare commercial tender summary (top sheet) and financial analysis for tender reviews
Coordinate queries and liaison with group legal, contracts, insurance, tax, treasury and finance departments.
Support implementation of the Tender Governance Process within service line and present to senior leadership for approvals at different stage gates.
Partner with business leaders, operational managers and functional teams to identify risks and develop actions and controls to remove, mitigate and/or manage the risks. Provide oversight and ensure accountability to action plans through to resolution.
Support governance and implementation of Financial Management Framework within the service line.
Assist with pre-contract negotiation and post-contract administration of various financial metrics including invoicing requirements, internal time to bill metrics, clearing unbilled items and ensuring accounts receivable are recovered in accordance with contractual requirements.
Assist with upkeep of commercial registers (eg. active projects register, secured orders report, watchlist items, pending / active claims)
Generate and upkeep commercial files/folders, reports/registers and ensure timely reporting
Provide a focused effort on process efficiencies, margin performance and enhancement.
Stewardship of our intellectual property and licensing agreements.
Administer compliance with commercial policies and procedures
Enhance project delivery and avoid any risk or commercial exposure to Wood.
Contribute directly to value creation and commercial gain to Wood and Clients.
Qualifications
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or Legal with demonstrable industry experience.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience managing commercial activities.
Advanced level of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
Knowledge of engineering design / supply equipment, engineering studies and construction contracts is an asset.
Experience with Oracle business systems an asset
Excellent communication (written and spoken) and numeracy skills, with the ability to engage and interact with a variety of stakeholders.
Demonstrated high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks within set timeframes and deadlines
Disciplined and self-motivated
Must be a US Citizen, or be authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
An MBA degree or equivalent would be an asset.
Being fluent or business conversational level in the Spanish language would be an asset.
