Engineering Manager
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of ABB Marine & Ports’ Remote Control System (RCS) solutions for bridge and vessel projects. You will work on integrating these systems with onboard technologies and lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with clients. This role is based in Vuosaari, Helsinki. The ideal candidate will have a background in Automation or Electrical Engineering and a strong desire to expand their expertise in the marine sector. Your main responsibilities will include: • Taking ownership of customer delivery projects • Customizing software solutions to meet customer requirements • Coordinating with stakeholders to align on system-level requirements • Integrating software into the overall system • Leading and guiding customers through Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
• PLC programming expertise
• The ability to read, understand, and follow electrical schematics is essential.
• Understanding of the IEC 61131-3 standard
• HMI development experience
• You are able to diagnose and address issues, providing support to electricians when troubleshooting or rectifying errors
• Familiarity with key communication protocols—specifically OPC UA, Modbus, and CAN—is beneficial
• While direct experience with ABB controllers (specifically, the AC500 and AC800 series) is ideal, familiarity with other prominent PLC brands, such as Siemens, Omron, Beckhoff, and Schneider, is highly valued
• Good communication skills
