Wood is currently recruiting for a Systems Completion Engineer – Unit Manufacturing Representative (UMR) with experience in the oil and gas commissioning industry with special focus on Chemical facilities. The position is in Hemlock, Michigan.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Support the SC team with the development of Systems Completion deliverables and execution during integration and commissioning. Essential functions are expected from the UMR as follows:

Act as engineering liaison between project, construction and manufacturing teams during major plant expansion projects
Performs work under technical, administrative, or manufacturing supervision, and applies technical discipline knowledge to review design, solve problems, assess performance and optimize manufacturing processes, while coordinating the startup activities of site capacity expansions.
Liaison between the project and manufacturing teams. The UMR shares responsibility with the project team for: adhering to project scope, meeting project schedule, maintaining cost control, and achieving process operability and maintainability.  The UMR supports and reinforces the project, construction and manufacturing teams from project conception through final project turnover to Manufacturing or Environmental / Utility area teams. 

KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB: Keen safety awareness and advocacy; multi-discipline technical team leadership, planning and coordination of work within a simultaneous operations environment, having technical expertise relevant to design and operation of assigned systems and liaising with equipment engineers, equipment vendors, construction personnel and operations team members.

Responsibilities

CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Be responsible for understanding and executing Woods’s Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all phases of the project. Personal safety awareness and team safety awareness are necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead or participate in Startup team formation and leading processes.
Participate in pre-construction Engineering reviews and project planning.
Follow construction progress and participate in solving construction and installation problems.
Lead the OCR/ SCR process. As necessary, to facilitate the safe startup of new processes and /or equipment.
Participate in management of change for engineering and construction of the project.
Assist the Commissioning Manager in planning development and reporting
Developing/ Review detailed commissioning and start-up procedures 
Function Test Procedure Writing/ Revision
Spares Review (SPIR forms)
Tag Quality Review
TTM specific verifications
Package check sheets
Supports with the management of documentation for project turnover to manufacturing.
Develops and maintains work practices consistent with the Corporate Code of Ethics and Corporate Values. Emphasizes planning and start-up activities that ensure health, safety, quality and environmental aspects of the job are achieved and are elevated in priority above schedule and cost.
Understands and learns department, safety and manufacturing technical methods and procedures used to do assigned work in a timely and efficient manner.  Provides support, as required by manufacturing leadership, to assess and improve manufacturing processes and equipment reliability.
Supports and leads safety initiatives and drives the safety performance of the startup team.
Works with the project, manufacturing and startup teams, to identify design and construction problems impeding the assigned project’s progress.  Performs investigative work, analyzes collected data, assesses alternatives for proceeding and makes recommendations to the teams.
Participates in professional growth programs and development as required.
Provides the UMC supervisor regular updates on progress and PIP goals.
Leads or supports operator skill development and training, in preparation for process startup.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate should be a motivated self-starter with complex problem solving ability. Excellent communication skills and team oriented personality required to interface with Construction and Operations Teams. A detailed working knowledge of offshore oil and gas processing facilities is required including:

Fluent and expert in reading and interpreting P&ID’s, Piping Isometrics and Production Flow Diagrams
Gas compression equipment
Rotating equipment
Process flow equipment, gas and oil pipeline systems
Operations and maintenance of production facilities
Leak testing (HeN)
Lube oil flushing, chemical flushing of production systems
Report writing and records maintenance
Permit to Work System
Project management skills; cost, time and project scope
Occupational hazards, standard safety procedures and safe work practices

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

10+ years’ experience minimum with plant commissioning experience
BSChE BSME, BSEE, or equivalent – Engineering (required) in specific discipline – Chemical, Mechanical, and/ or Electrical Engineering
O&G Commissioning and Start-Up/SC Experience (10+ years)
A practical knowledge and proper level of manufacturing and trade experience.
A thorough knowledge of plant safety standards, construction and some engineering standards, and PSM requirements
A basic knowledge of engineering methodology and tools is required.
Has required level of skill in team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
