YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ABB Energy Industries is enabling safe, smart and sustainable projects and operations for businesses across the oil, gas, chemicals, life sciences, power generation and water sectors. In this role you will be a technical lead for engineering activities in assignments classified as medium engineering complexity having expertise in PMS/SCMS/LDC/Electrical SCADA (Power management Systems/Substation Control and Monitoring Systems/Load Dispatch Center/Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) systems. You will complete assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects related to engineering discipline(s), cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Working model: hybrid #LI-hybrid Your responsibilities: • Approving design deliverables. Reviewing all project documents. Anticipating and solving crucial issues. Serving as a specialist in the application of advanced concepts and methods. Acting as design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completing engineering assignments for that discipline • Collaborating on project installation, commissioning, and site activities, clarifying potential issues, or providing solutions to correct engineering errors. Providing technical support to commissioning and start-up activities • Working with the customer to shape and deliver solutions and seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements. Finalizing ‘Fail-Safe Philosophy’ and other key concepts as part of Kick-off and design freeze meetings. • Applying Design Thinking / Design for Excellence concepts in projects, including modelling, prototyping, simulation, and calculations. Performing Project Peer-Reviews. Actively contributing and sharing experiences in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools, and processes. Coaching engineering colleagues. • Developing, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures, and tools. Ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. Reporting processes and tools inefficiencies and suggesting ideas for improvements. • Assessing and addressing technical risks and opportunities. Ensuring Bill of Material (BOM) for the project meets contractual obligations; and project gross margin requirements by not generating Project Left-Over Material (PLOM). • Creating work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects in consultation with respective Project Managers and ensuring quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost. • Preparing RFQs to meet contractual requirements and providing technical evaluation of suppliers’ proposals. • Collaborating with the Supply Chain function and the Project Manager(s); coordinating and/or participating with Manufacturing and Testing teams to ensure the technical solutions are appropriately manufactured/ staged and tested. • Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work and projects according to customer order and expectation. • Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations. • Ensuring the engineering deliverables are updated post installation & commissioning (if applicable).

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

• Engineering Degree
• Overall automation systems understanding, combined with process knowledge in in one of: Oil & Gas, Power & Water sectors.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role and experience in the automation area
• Knowledge of ABB systems eg: 800xA with AC 800M & IEC 61850, etc. Knowledge of Industrial Cyber security and networking solutions for control systems. Experience with Onshore and/or Offshore Oil and Gas customers like with ADNOC and/or Power & Water sector experience.
• Good hands on experience in ABB 800xA with AC 800M & IEC 61850, and/or other systems like Network Manager. Good knowledge and/or expertise in ABB PPM (Process Power Manager) Library with Load Shedding and Load Sharing applications.
• Proficiency in interface configuration using different protocols like IEC 61850, IEC 101, IEC 104, Modbus, Profibus, OPC, etc. between PMS/SCMS/LDC/Electrical SCADA systems and third-party systems or field devices.
• Fluency in English language.
• Knowledge on MicroSCADA systems will be an advantage
