Job Description

Wood’s Oil, Gas, & New Energies business has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer IV to work out of our client’s office and field locations in Midland, TX,. This role will be responsible for assessing and developing work scope on brownfield surface facilities retrofits, expansions, and debottlenecking projects, primarily in the mechanical/piping space.
Key activities include:

Engineering for gas compression capacity expansion (e.g., 20MMSCFD to 60MMSCFD)
Vapor Recovery Units to eliminate flaring
Pipeline capacity expansion and debottlenecking
Processing facilities optimization, including crude oil separation, water treatment, pumping capacity, utilities upgrades, and electrical systems retrofits
Minor piping and mechanical retrofits in existing facilities
Produced fluids metering facilities
Site walkdowns, mark-ups development, and as-built documentation

Responsibilities

Job Objective:Supports delivery of engineering excellence in assigned projects by executing and delivering engineering tasks to schedule and in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, and standards.Coordinates activities performed by engineers, designers, and others from multiple disciplinesOversees schedule, planning, and resource forecasting for engineering activitiesEnsures accurate and timely delivery of work to internal and external customersAlerts Project Manager of potential delays or changes and supports implementation of approved changesCoordinates and assures technical excellence of interdisciplinary project deliverablesGuides and mentors other Project Engineers in managing work scopeManages interfaces between engineering disciplines to ensure successful delivery of assigned workRole and Key Accountabilities:Deliver and manage all field work performed in the region, ensuring proper resourcingReport performance to client and Wood management regarding safety, cost, and scheduleAlign project objectives with those of the ClientEnsure compliance with all contractual requirementsDirect personnel responsible for HSE, quality, engineering, construction, and business servicesIssue progress, cost, and information reports as requiredAppraise management of project performance against objectivesEnsure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality policies and proceduresPromote HSEQ awareness and conduct regular site and project safety auditsManage interface with Bogotá to ensure effective execution of assigned work scopesProject Deliverables:Contribute to the Project Execution Plan, Discipline Design Instruction, and Contract requisitionsManage and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and deliverables across multiple execution centersQuality, HSE, and Assurance:Work to quality system and monitor deficienciesAddress HSES issues in design, manufacture, construction, commissioning, and operationsDevelop Project Specific ProceduresEnsure compliance with contract and scope of workAssure quality of engineering deliverables before issue to customerChair technical meetings with Third Parties and manage technical issues to completionDevelopment and Management of Schedule:Plan individual work activities and manage timeLiaise with disciplines to ensure timely receipt of commentsExpedite Engineers to deliver to schedule and develop recovery plansResolve most delays or changes and escalate serious issuesChange Management:Highlight and quantify changes impacting workImplement approved changesPeople Management:Supervise technical professionals in delivering engineering deliverablesCoordinate medium-sized interdisciplinary teams (typically 10-50)Facilitate communication

Qualifications

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline5-10 years of relevant experienceProfessional Engineer or engineering chartership preferredProject Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent qualification preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Experience:8+ years relevant industry project execution experience, preferably with construction site experienceUnderstanding of technical work scopes, commercial aspects, specifications, and standardsFamiliarity with project Contractual and Commercial requirementsKnowledge of project scopes and inter-discipline coordination requirementsCustomer satisfaction focus and ability to deliver to internal customersKnowledge of procedures and work practices governing Engineering Management and Project Engineering deliverablesCommercially astute and able to implement Change controlLeadership skills in managing Project Engineering teams and inter-discipline coordinationStrong communication, problem-solving, and planning skills
