In this position, you will be responsible for engineering activities in the area of hard- and software as well as installation and commissioning related to paper machine drive systems in the area of Process Industries in Mannheim, Germany. In this role, you will drive excellence, making technical recommendations in various phases of customer projects to ensure that engineering activities are effectively executed in accordance with expectations, specifications, standards and safety requirements, while identifying improvement opportunities. Support in this job will be available from Global Business Line Product Management and SW Development. Regular Expert Days on international basis will keep you up to date.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting in continuous improvement of project design, participating in project review meetings, and plan engineering, installation and commissioning activities
• Aiding contract managers with claims related to changes in the project scope, including assessing cost and time impacts, as well as risk quantifications
• Providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals, while assisting project managers in technical reviews and discussions with customers and others
• Creating and delivering work plans, resource requirements, proposals, engineering estimates, and risk and opportunity analyses
• Resolving complex technical issues both remotely and at customer sites in Germany and elsewhere. Regular travel to customer and partners is part of the job
• Developing your technical management and communication skills by coaching entry-level engineers, technicians and support teams
• Maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction by offering dialogue and excellent service at all times
• Working and networking with engineering colleagues, disseminating best practices
• Overseeing new subcontracts and assisting the supply chain in managing subcontractors

YOUR BACKGROUND

• Several years of experience in projects working as lead engineer, commissioning lead or as other lead functions with automation and / or drive projects
• Sound knowledge of project management and engineering techniques, processes and tools
• Experience with software and design of e.g. control systems, automation system and CAD-tools like AutoCAD or EPlan
• A strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following workplace safety guidelines
• A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies
• A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills in both English and German
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g. electrical, automation) or equivalent/higher
