Optics Engineer II | Czech Republic | Brno

We are currently seeking aOptics Engineer IIto join our team in ourBrnooffice reporting to theSr. Engineering Manager.

The successful candidate will work with a global team of engineers to design and develop heads-up-displays for aircraft. They will have a thorough understanding of optics and opto-mechanical systems. They will be familiar with the manufacturing of optical elements and the effects of manufacturing tolerances on optical components. They will have an understanding of LCD displays and LED backlights. They will be familiar with optical software such as Code V, Zemax, LightTools etc. The ability to use CAD software would also be helpful. They will be able to perform photometric and spectral measurements and be familiar with photometers, spectroradiometers and other optical instruments. They will have a knowledge of government regulations and industry standards relating to displays and flight deck components. They will be good at working together with cross-functional teams, both in-person and remotely.

Role Key Responsibilities:

• Optical design including visual performance, imaging optics, curved image planes, freeform optics, vignetting, optimization, tolerancing and manufacturability, micro displays, meta optics.
• Manufacturing deployment, dealing with manufacturing issues.
• You will be working in optical design tools such as Zemax and Code V.
• Perform photometric and spectral measurements.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Key Experience & Capabilities:

• PhD preferred – Masters degree in Optical field or any relevant discipline.
• 3+ years of experience.
• Optical design experience including visual performance, imaging optics, curved image planes, freeform optics, vignetting, optimization, tolerancing and manufacturability, Micro displays, meta optics.
• Knowledge of optical design tools Zemax and Code V.
• Understanding of LCD displays and LED backlights.
• Familiar with photometers, spectroradiometers and other optical instruments.
