JOB DESCRIPTION

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage a very large-scale machine shop primarily concerned with machining large generator power plant rotating fields and steam turbine low pressure rotors from forgings. Position also manages generator field and steam turbine rotor services and repairs machining scope.
• Manage the team in order to reach defined targets in quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
• Ensure continuous business improvement as prescribed by COE leader objectives and in accordance with plant lean benchmarks and standards.
• Manage a team of salaried employees including NC programmers, Manufacturing Engineers, and production supervisors who oversee hourly employees. Requires specialized knowledge within the machining function. Influence the development of strategy for the area, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
• Develop and communicate a manufacturing cell strategy that cost effectively meets or exceeds business commitments. This includes daily work targets and deliverables with feedback in order to successfully accomplish handbook cost, quality, and safety targets.
• Support the development of both the cell and the plant master production schedule ensuring accurate coordination of work across cells and accurate communication of expectations regarding customer delivery.
• Create an environment of respect and trust amongst all the cell employees and ensure open lines of communication for the identification and resolution of both technical and personnel issues. Maintain a high degree of transparency and a high say to do ratio.
• Work well and cooperatively with other COE cells to ensure work flows properly and customer dates are achieved.
• Serve as a key partner and interface with engineering, sourcing, materials, quality, logistics and projects teams to ensure the efficient delivery of product to project site.
• Lead the improvements of all lines including strategically developing communication rhythms, setting proper staffing levels, appropriately developing required manufacturing processes, determining standard work, and synchronizing efforts between GE and suppliers to ensure a flawless execution process.
• Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
• Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in the area under of operation control. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
• May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others’ options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in people leader role in a heavy industrial manufacturing and a minimum of 8 years of total experience in a manufacturing roles
• Or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of direct leadership experience in a similar machining leadership role and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment and a minimum of 8 years of total experience in a manufacturing roles

The base pay range for this position is $118,500- $135,000.The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 15%performance bonus/variable incentivecompensation/equity. ​

*The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
