Firmware Development Engineer – Industrial Automation

We have an opportunity for a Firmware Development Engineer to join us at Honeywell, in Brno. You will join the Value Engineering/Component Engineering group of Industrial Automation business which is oriented in finding production savings in various types of products such as gas detectors, building automation, measurement and industrial devices. Our products are certificated by multiple certification authorities.

The main scope of Firmware Development Engineer’s involvement is to execute produce design tasks such as coding, testing and requirement management. Important part of the involvement is also creating and maintaining technical documentation and supporting rest of the team by providing accurate feedback.

A candidate at this position can grow in area of industrial embedded software design, software development and processes for functional safety certified products and gaining domain knowledge of gas detection for highly demanding oil/gas and chemical applications.

This is a hybrid role, 3 days in office, 2 from home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review requirements, coding, prepare software test cases
• Analyze usability of microcontrollers or peripheral chips for given purpose
• Support software and product testing activities
• Support production process
• Prepare technical documentation

Key skills and qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of C programming language and compilers for embedded systems and Python for scripting and data processing capability. Ability to comprehend and create algorithms and software requirements, basic knowledge of electronic hardware, ability to read schematics, comprehend chip datasheets
• 2+ years’ experience with developing of embedded software
• Intermediate English proficiency for active usage for both written and oral form
• Electrotechnical qualification in accordance CZ government regulation 194/2022 (ex. 50/1978). par. 6 – or eligible for that
• The below is a huge advantage: Experience with Functional Safety certified products and standards (SIL industrial, railroads, DO aerospace) and/or any of optic, mechanic, electronic or software troubleshooting of industrial devices, soldering skills, past involvement on projects under V-model development process, experience with debugging industrial communication protocols
