As a Service Engineer for the chemical & refining industry you will execute projects and service work according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. You will be in close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point while delivering quality and satisfying customer service. This role is located in Leipzig (Germany) and you will be responsible for providing routine maintenance and on-site or remote technical support. The position involves approximately two days of travel in the region around Leipzig, as you will be providing hands-on assistance at customer sites.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performing service tasks like installation and commissioning of equipment, identifying technical problems, making analysis through remote or on-site activity in different service categories (installation and commissioning, routine maintenance, extensions, upgrades, back-up & recovery, replacements etc.)
• Consulting and advising customers on the best service solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures and safety guidelines
• Creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers, appreciating their needs and providing specialist assistance and solutions
• Coordinating and executing specialist projects through planning, meeting milestones and regular reviews
• Troubleshooting simple equipment failure and making recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
• Identifying opportunities to develop new service applications, equipment and methods
• Participating in the local on-call service after a well-tuned process of briefing and training

YOUR BACKGROUND

• A degree in automation or similar (e.g. Electrical engineering, automation technology, computer science)
• Experience in a similar role is a plus (Possibly >2 years work experience as service, planning or commissioning engineer, preferably in the chemical environment, on the customer or service provider side)
• Several years of experience in at least one automation platform as well as knowledge of MS Office applications
• Willingness to travel, also overnight
• Knowledge of programming language and virtual machines is a plus
• Fluent German and good English skills
• Driver’s license Class B required
