In Finland Grid Solutions is engineering and manufacturing systems for electrical substations. OurFACTS Product Delivery Group (PDG)in Tampere delivers reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM),Static Var Compensators (SVC)and STATCOM with energy storage (FACTS FLEX). These are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. STATCOMs and SVCs are also typically used to improve the integration of renewables to the power system making the future power system more sustainable. Our business is growing rapidly and 95% of the systems manufactured in Tampere are exported globally.

Job Description

You will be accountable for successful SVC/Statcom equipment delivery; PDG local manufacturing scope, pre-testing, global on-site installations support and site commissioning. This will include management of subcontracting partners, production, warehouse, and test facilities, site activities as well as people leadership of our manufacture team as well site activities team. You will be supported by Procurement, Sourcing, Logistics, as well as Project Managers and Engineers working on the projects. You will work in collaboration with global and local GE Vernova community and report to FACTS PDG Global Engineering Leader.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Planningfor Manufacturing, local Hardware testing and on-site activity needs
• On-time availability of manufactured, assembled, and pre-tested equipment (Projects, NPI (New Product Introduction), Replicas) to RTDS-laboratory. Excluding RTDS-tests, customer FAT and Type Testing responsibilities
• Projects’ on-siteinstallationsupervision and equipment pretesting support
• Develop partner network and internal capabilities for efficient and LEAN operating model
• Ensure clean, well-functioning and safe working facilities – manufacturing/packing, warehouse, pre-testing areas, HV-lab, RTDS-labs.
• Prepare the strategic plan for future investments (CAPEX) requirements for production facility and labs
• Ensure adherence to all Statutory and GE Vernova EHS requirements by organizing and tracking relevant trainings & certifications of personnel working on these equipment/in these facilities
• Develop and upheld relevant manufacturing and testing processes, including inventory keeping, Quality auditing, 5S, Lessons Learned sessions
• Participate inProjects’ schedule planning at ITO and OTR stage
• People Leadership for the team, recruitment, mentoring
• Create and consolidate a strategic plan for site Commissioning and Manufacture focus on cost optimization and resources available.

Desired characteristics

• Minimum 5 years of experience infield of industrial/electrical engineering, with strong understanding on manufacturing and verification processes & methods.
• M.Sc or B.Sc in electrical engineering or other relevant field
• Practiced on LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies
• Prior work experience applyingindustrymanufacturing and qualitystandards andsafetyregulations
• Experienced insystematic problems solving, eg. 8D
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• English – mandatory,Finnish – preferred
