Electrical Engineer (Oil & Gas)

When you join Design Group as an Electrical Engineer (Oil & Gas), you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join ourArchitecture/EngineeringProcess Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.

• Extensive experience in executing projects for the Refining, Gas Transmission or Petrochemical industries with the highest level of quality, cost effectiveness, and a focus on safety.
• Develop electrical engineering solutions as a hands-on engineer.
• Complete 12.47kv substation designs including protective relaying. This will include 4160 switchgear, power monitoring and 480-volt MCC’s.
• Cradle to grave power studies using SKM, Easy Power or ETAP.
• Power distribution and calculations for Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) systems including switchboards, panel boards, transformers, wire sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, cable tray sizing
• Emergency power system design and specification
• Interior and exterior lighting design
• Preparation of design criteria, specifications, one-line diagrams and elementaries for electrical equipment such as Motor Control Centers, VFDs and starters
• Perform fault current calculation, arc flash analysis and coordination studies. Circuit protection device selection and coordination.
• Hazardous area classification analysis for electrical equipment
• Develop construction drawing packages and review vendor submittals.
• Provides technical expertise to the organization and maintains strong client relationships.
• Provides mentorship to less experienced engineers.
• Assists in preparation of project schedules and estimates to define the project plan.
• Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to lead the electrical design on a multi-discipline project
• Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD software
• Electrical analysis software familiarity (i.e., ETAP, SKM).
• Strong knowledge in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code Standards (NFPA/NEC)
• Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with management, clients, and vendors.
• Must also possess good general computer skills including use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• We are looking for candidates local to the area. For highly qualified applicants outside of the local area some relocation assistance may be available.
• Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to: project installation and start-up activities, client meetings, company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, or conventions, etc.
• EIT or Licensed PE is preferred
