Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientedControls Engineering Internfor Summer 2025. This internship provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on key projects focused on automation, electrical design, and controls integration within a manufacturing setting.

Location:

Barry-Wehmiller has several locations across the United States within our various divisions. As a Controls Engineering Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to supportBW Papersystems, BW Converting,orBW Packaging, depending on the role and location.

Potential geographic locations includeBaltimore, MD, Phillips, WI, Sheboygan, WI, Green Bay, WI, Duncan, SC, or Brooklyn Park, MN.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of control systems for paper converting machinery.
• Collaborate with senior controls engineers to create and modify control logic, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and PLC programming.
• Participate in the documentation of control system designs, specifications, and user manuals.
• Support troubleshooting and debugging efforts to identify and resolve control system issues in a timely manner.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of control systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Assist in commissioning and startup activities, ensuring proper functionality and performance of control systems.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas to improve the overall performance and efficiency of control systems.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in controls engineering.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of college coursework completed inElectrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of PLC programming and control systems is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
