Job Description

Wood currently has opportunities available for Construction Field Engineers of all disciplines on industrial process project sites in Louisiana and the US. These roles have responsibility for providing leadership in the performance management of all activities related to the execution of construction work on the assigned project, including with planning, cost control, materials management, contract/work force administration, safety/incident prevention, quality, security, and change management. 
Authorization to lawfully work in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required

Responsibilities

Ensuring construction work is executed as per engineering drawing specifications, design standards and contractual requirements 
Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables
Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability.
Implementing continuous improvements to positively impact project performance 
Maintaining Wood contractual responsibilities 
Establishing and maintaining Wood relationships with clients and other 3rd parties 
Providing advice on course of action to maintain the schedule within authority levels or escalating to quickly address 
Monitoring and auditing construction and materials management documentation to ensure that the facilities are being constructed to meet the quality specifications 
Managing and replying to RFI’s, issuing Site Instructions, NCRs and coordinating energization documentation 
Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports
Arrange and/or attend site meetings with Owner, Construction Contractor, Subcontractors, Materials Supplier as required to effectively carry out Services. Such meetings may include preconstruction, construction progress, on‐site troubleshooting, resolution, special review, punch list and final walkthrough meetings, startup, and close‐out meetings 
Coordinate with Construction Contractor representative to ensure clear and timely communication of issues or changes 
Review of Construction Contractors change orders, schedule extensions, weather delays, force majeure, recovery plans, and re-baselines with comments to Owner 
Coordinate any site visits instructed by Owner

Accountable for delivery of construction work packs which give clear activity breakdown and detailed narratives for all construction activities.
Contribute advanced discipline experience to the ongoing development of project work methods, processes and team development.
Oversees constructability review of all work packs, resolving more complex issues. Feedback any major issues to construction lead or relevant engineering discipline. This will include input at scope survey and engineering stage.
Provide advanced technical discipline input to scope definition and execution.
Ensure that all plant and equipment is fully certificated and controlled cost effectively.
Ensure effective control of all material movements.
If identified, react to change in scope, inform necessary parties and complete the necessary change management documentation.
Check installation quality and subsequent verification are completed in accordance with requirements.
Participate in audits and incident investigations as required.
Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance. 
Provides significant coaching, mentoring and guidance to less experienced personnel 
Assisting with the delivery and timely execution of the project/contract/service and ensure the contract requirements are satisfied.
Ensure quality requirements are understood and complied with and prepare quality plans and documents in accordance with the relevant project, statutory and legislative requirements
Formulate and implement the overall Project Execution Plan, developing a work packaging/purchasing strategy and performing those activities needed to construct the facility and pre-commission it for startup. 
Involved in every stage, from initiation through commissioning and startup of a project.
Provide advanced constructability input to engineering by optimizing construction knowledge and experience to reduce construction costs; improve quality, safety and productivity; shorten construction schedules; and reduce or eliminate construction inefficiencies. 
Responsible for assisting with the development of the PMP/PEP, bid submissions, construction methodology and strategies. 
Provide construction technical support to the customer and the Wood engineering team, throughout the FEED and detailed design phases of a project. Work with project controls in developing the build sequence/construction schedule and proactively risk managing of the schedule. 
Provides input to the contracting strategy and during bid clarification process. 
Act as senior team member in the constructability team, guiding conversion of engineering designs into construction workpacks and overseeing work of others. 
Responsible for the delivery of construction deliverables to the required technical standards to support and facilitate site construction activities

Qualifications

Typically minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma / apprenticeship) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
Appropriate level of construction experience in relevant industry sector, typically a minimum of 7 years of practical experience if degree qualified OR trade discipline qualified with a minimum 10 years relevant practical experience 
Have broad and deep technical knowledge of construction discipline and associated process
Results oriented with the capacity to successfully manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines 
Superior analytical, problem solving, audit and investigation skills 
Demonstrated effective leadership interacting with multiple internal disciplines and external customers in areas of civil, structural and electrical design 
Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions with the ability to manage to the specification of a contract 
Excellent and professional communication, interpersonal and team building skills within a diverse work group 
Ability to identify risk to delivery and build in mitigation / contingency plans.
Substantial experience of interpreting discipline documentation. 
Substantial knowledge and understanding of technical specifications 
Understands the business drivers within customer organizations and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and cost effective solutions. 
Good interpersonal organizational, communication and team building skills.
