The Digital Technology and Solutions team is seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team as an Automation Engineer Summer Intern. The automation intern will gain experience and assist the Connected Plant team in maintaining, designing, developing, and troubleshooting automated systems as well as the automation of research/production processes at the Andelyn Corporate Center (ACC), Andelyn Development Center (ADC), and the Andelyn Plasmid Center (APC).

Under the guidance and direction of the Automation Engineer, Connected Plant, essential functions of the Automation Summer Intern could include:

• Assist in the design and development of SCADA/HMI programs to monitor, control, or aggregate process data for manufacturing and research equipment at Andelyn facilities.Work alongside the Connected Plant and Engineering teams to develop new features or system improvements for existing automated systems.Troubleshoot SCADA/HMI/PLC/Control systems as needed remotely or on-site at Andelyn facilities.Assist lab and manufacturing personnel in troubleshooting automated equipment or PC-related issues in their systems.Assist in testing/validating the functionality of automated aspects of research or production area equipment.Produce documentation, manuals, guides, etc to educate users and other departments on the available functionality and the correct operation of their automated equipment or processes

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Sophomore college standing and above.Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, Biotechnology, or Biomedical majors.Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required.Experience with Basic Circuit Analysis, Digital Logic Design, Electrical, and Computing Fundamentals coursework.Skills in operating a personal computer. Must be familiar with various software packages (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prism Graph-Pad, MATLAB). Knowledge of programming software is a plus.Minimum Physical RequirementsSitting for extended periods occasionally (67-100%).Talking on the phone/in person.Typing on a computer.Standing/walking (0-33% of the time).
