Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead for PLC Testing to oversee the testing of newly developed Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and ensure their compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive expertise in various industrial communication protocols and safety standards. You will be responsible for leading the test strategy, planning, and execution for PLC systems, ensuring their functionality, reliability, and performance meet high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end testing process for newly developed PLC systems, including functional, integration, safety, and performance testing.
• Develop and execute test plans for protocols like EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet, CIP, OPC UA, and other relevant industrial communication protocols.
• Ensure thorough testing of Safety PLCs and I/O modules, focusing on safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Validate and test the integration of Safety I/O and their communication with PLC systems.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure all test findings are well-documented and effectively addressed.
• Utilize CODESYS programming for developing test scripts and simulations to evaluate PLC performance and reliability.
• Drive the continuous improvement of testing methodologies, leveraging automation where appropriate.
• Participate in root cause analysis, troubleshooting issues, and providing solutions during the testing process.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into the testing process to improve test coverage.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, ensuring best practices in testing methodologies are followed.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and safety engineering teams to achieve project objectives.
• Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts. (Automated test infrastructure configuration and automated system test execution).
• Participate in Scrum meetings with other team members including sprint planning and estimating; backlog refinement; daily Scrum meetings; sprint retrospectives and sprint reviews.
• Drive improvement on functionality, usability, testability, performance and production stability of the applications and systems
• Candidate will be responsible for the overall System level Test Coverage and reduction in Post Release defects to the Customer/End User.
• Candidate will be responsible for On-time delivery of project/group objectives and influences project level productivity.
• Prepare detailed test reports outlining test results, defects identified, and overall system performance.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide insights into the testing process and outcomes.

You Must Have:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in PLC testing, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead test engineer role.
• Protocols: Extensive knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Profinet, CIP, OPC UA, IEC61850, Modbus, etc.
• Safety Systems: Experience in testing and validating Safety PLCs and Safety I/O modules. Thorough understanding of safety standards and compliance.
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in CODESYS programming for developing test scripts and automation.
• PLC Architecture: Solid understanding of PLC architecture, I/O systems, control networks, and field devices.
• Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system integration issues.
• Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Testing Tools: Familiarity with automation testing tools and methodologies, with a focus on PLC and industrial automation environments.

Preferred Skills::

• Experience with SCADA and HMI systems.
• Hands-on experience with Safety certifications and safety compliance testing.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements for industrial systems.
• Experience with discrete industry sensors and devices having different communication protocol such as Modbus, OPCUA, MQTT, EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet, IEC61850 etc.
