Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Product Line Leader Fired Heaters & Syngas to join its Technology & Product (T&P) Group centered in Milan (Italy), the Centre of Expertise (COE) for several Wood’s technologies. The position will be based preferably in Corsico (Milan) office, where the rest of the team is based, but open to evaluate candidates located elsewhere.
JOB OBJECTIVE

The Product Line Leader Fired Heaters & Syngas will support all aspects of the assigned product line and technology portfolio, including R&D, business development and customer support
Reports to SVP of the Technology & Products Group, leading the global Technology & Products business of the Company
Directs and guides the growth, development and delivery performance for product line globally, including the development and implementation of strategy and delivering related business plans
Accountable for safety technical and financial performance across the product line, he assumes budgetary and P&L responsibility, demonstrating clear safety leadership
Achieves monthly and annual targets, while embedding company values
Provide guidance and direction to management and support teams in the day-to-day management of delivery, ensuring appropriate controls and governance are in place and ensuring Wood is working to the highest possible standards of integrity, safety, quality and operational excellence
Proactively builds the business producing solutions to complex strategic, contractual, technical, commercial, operational and personnel related challenges which impact on customer service and performance
Manages ongoing business, responsible for budget setting and delivery, contracts, capacity and resource management, and capability management. May be delivering a number of services and capabilities

Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Delivery 

P&L responsibility with associated commercial and financial accountability including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast determination and attainment, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing and cash collection
Deliver performance management objectives, agreed business plans, budget and targets and report on both opportunities and risks impacting on the business. 
Provides mid-term direction to operational management team(s) in order to meet business plan goals and regular updates on opportunity pipeline and sales target achievement
Maintain operational integrity and excellence, ensuring robust governance, subcontractor and vendor management, and performance reporting. Work with business grouping leadership teams and operational managers to improve delivery performance and maximize delivery opportunities throughout wider business where required
With broad strategic direction, establishes annual business goals and strategies and prepares business plan for assigned product line
Ensures financial, safety, and quality controls and compliance to company policies
Establish and implement policies and ensure appropriate governance mechanisms for continuous monitoring of their proper implementation
Participate in technical audits and peer reviews 
Actively identifies, pursues and develop opportunities for innovation, such as digitalization and technology use, work share and Global Engineering Centers, to bring value to Wood and customer
Tracks risks and opportunities via registers and mitigation of current or emerging risks across country / Region to maximize performance. 
Ensure our people and the worksites at which they operate are safe and well managed
Support of HSSEA matters across assigned product line: ensure HSSEA values are always delivered and adhered to, proactively leading and demonstrating safety behavioral values. Lead and focus the team to attain all HSE plans, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring legislative compliance
Support resolution of any legal claims in collaboration with legal and other relevant functions 
Ensures robust Management of Change and builds a learning culture

Business Growth

Deliver growth in the areas of responsibility through close collaboration with Business Development. Develop and own business plan, and drive sales, bid and tender activity
In support of continued growth, ensures that the organization develops responsive, dependable and cost-effective services, servicing target markets, collaborating across business units and business groupings, and actively leveraging Wood solutions to address customer needs 
Drive client’s decision towards Wood Fired Heaters & Syngas offering
Fosters and enhance customer relationships with open, honest and effective communications. Work with customer-facing teams to improve scope of work/offering, understand and deliver customer required level of services 
Oversees proposals and call-offs (may be individual projects) within delegation of authority, ensuring compliance with contracting policy and standards of ethical conduct 
Leads external presentations building customer and partner relationships, developing new/existing sales leads, and supports global marketing events as a spokesperson
Develops and maintains relationships with key client decision makers and executives
Monitors and evaluates current and emerging alternative technology options for assigned product line and develops business strategy and technology development.
Provides support as needed to the evaluation and execution of alliances and acquisitions of relevant technologies

WORKING RELATIONSHIP
Internal

Line management of direct reports and provide mentoring to developing talent 
Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate and collaborate across the business unit and business grouping boundaries 
Engage with and promote community development including networking/knowledge sharing and engagement with communities of practice 
Regularly interface with Country/Region Leadership Team, Extended Leadership Team, local teams
Engage with employee representative groups / workers unions/syndicates in spirit of fostering good employee relationships and engagement 
Interact with Joint Venture partners if applicable. Internal support teams including legal, strategy & development etc 
Interface and coordinate with Project and/or Contract Management to ensure delivery of operational goals

External

Promoting, representing and enhancing Company reputation internally and externally with customers, potential new customers, governmental bodies including ministries and labour officials, and Industry Bodies
Engage with academia as appropriate and stay abreast of relevant market intelligence
Represent Wood with authorities, customers and suppliers/vendors in a professional manner
Work closely with Joint Venture partners (where applicable), alliance partners and key subcontractors and vendors 
Engage as appropriate with local community stakeholders, including schools, colleges etc.

LEVEL OF INFLUENCE & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

Significant degree of influence over success of the business for assigned product line. Substantial level of input into developing strategy for growth and delivery in assigned area. Overall accountability for delivery of business plan in assigned area

Qualifications

Qualifications

Degree qualification in Engineering, Scientific Discipline, or related technical field OR degree qualified in a commercial / business discipline with significant experience in a technical organization

Knowledge, skills and experience

Extensive track record of successful operational and strategic delivery within relevant industry sector
Broad and deep understanding of the industry and strong networking and relationship building capability 
Experience of customer facing communication 
Strong relevant technical expertise or commercial/business management applied in a technical organization 
Understanding of management systems 
Knowledge of current HSSEA and other legislation as applicable in the industry 
Team building skills – motivating people, proactively enabling cross functional best practice 
Ability to lead change programmes 
The ability to influence and challenge others to behave in ways consistent with the interest of the organisation 
Business awareness and commercial acumen to contribute to the competitive advantage of the business
