Job Description
You will be a member of the global engineered to order (ETO) test team which supports manufacturing plants in the United States, Poland, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and China.
You will be responsible for medium voltage and low voltage motor control center test support and the associated new product introduction activities under the direction of more senior staff in addition to providing test support for other Rockwell Automation products. You will support engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication, assembly, installation, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems. You will work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform test system commissioning and trouble-shooting functions. You will help develop cost-effective test methods and establishing best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Provide manufacturing technical support helping troubleshoot complex test systems to resolve crisis downtime situations in Rockwell Automation plants.
• Read and interpret new product designs consisting of electronic circuit schematics, electrical and mechanical equipment design drawings, bills of materials, design and functional specifications.
• Participate in the new product design evaluation process. Provide design for test feedback and requirements to the product team during the design process to assure testability and test coverage. Based on the design requirements develop plans to test completed assemblies. Manage and communicate project financials, timelines, and action plans to provide cost-effective test solutions on schedule and within budget.
• Help the plants to meet annual productivity goals and reduce/eliminate safety and ergonomic risk in the manufacturing work environment. Participate in the procurement, installation and validation activities with test equipment targeted for the manufacturing production environment.
• Help review preventative maintenance for all test equipment. Provide guidance with calibration schedules and/or requirements for test instrumentation. Identify/maintaining spare parts inventory.
• Design electrical systems, properly size components, and working with outside vendors. Will need to select proper PLC components and test instrumentation based on product test requirements to provide safe and reliable test solutions.
• Understand, create, and release documentation on the test solution such as test specifications to document product testing and coverage, system wiring schematics, system BOM (Bill of Materials), user guides and test software storage and creation.
• Support witness and non-standard tests for customers (functional demonstrations).
• Collaborate both within ETO and other teams.
• Support training activities for manufacturing test technicians.
• Participate in the annual capital planning process and project execution.
The Essentials- What You Will Have:
• Bachelor’s Degree – Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical Engineering Technology(EET), Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (EE/CS).
• Legal authorization to work in Canada is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
• Travel up to 10%.
The Preferred- You May Also Have:
• Typically requires 5 years related experience with manufacturing production testing.
• Experience with AC and DC motor drive fundamentals, medium voltage and low voltage power distribution, transformer specifications, closed-loop control systems, motor drive test and commissioning.
• Able to read and interpret new product designs consisting of electronic circuit schematics, electrical and mechanical equipment design drawings, bills of materials, design and functional specifications.
• Knowledge of motor control center electrical and electronic hardware.
• Excellent troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs.
• Good written and verbal communications in English.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office programs.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
